High water on the Winooski, roiled up from the rains. There were good #12 black stones coming off good before the latest rains. The White is fishing much better as are some brooks. We are a week of dry weather away from decent fishing on the Winooski. People are catching some nice bass on the reservoir.
Headed for Maine this weekend, getting reports of good conditions there. Next week the prime stretch of the Clyde in Newport opens. A trip to the Clyde in May can produce some nice Salmon

Snowy and windy in Maine. Not the most pleasant of days. Fishing was just ok, one 17" brookie and a few in the 12" range. Suckers are in now. Water very cold.
Back in Vermont and will be fishing Lamoille and Winooski tribs. Clyde on Wed.

Fished all around the kingdom this morning, scouting water levels and temps. Clyde was way too high to fish. Willoughby was very cold but running a good level, fish have moved through Orleans. Lamoille is running a little high and cold. Things could shape up by Sunday evening with the High low for the day forecast in the mid sixties. Sunday evening or Monday morning could be good in North Central Vermont unless the scattered showers on Firday and Saturday turn out to be serious downpours.

It is perfect BWO weather and there are some nice hatches on the Winooski. Fish are taking 16-18 BWOs. The water is warming up and unless we get heavy rain things should continue to improve this week. The Lamoille is starting to get better too.

Brook fishing is heating up. Lots of nice brookies hitting attractor dries. The big rivers are coming into shape nicely. Earliest prime time trout fishing in Vermont in memory.

The Sulphur hatch is in full swing on the Winooski. Size 18 will catch you plenty of fish.
June 4-5th 2010
The Brown Drake hatch has been in full swing on the Lamoille...
June 10th-12th 2010
Cahills are starting to show up. Yellow bodied mayfly emergers are working in size 8-10 as are 14 pheasant tails and princes. Water levels coming back already from the recent rains. Fishing is very good.
June 23-25th 2010
The Sulphurs are giving way to the Yellow drakes and bigger fish are getting interested. Size 12 Yellow Wulffs are catching a lot of fish in the evenings.
